IUS Secures Top Spot as the Leading Private University in BiH in the Latest Webometrics Ranking

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has reaffirmed its academic excellence by maintaining its position as the number one private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the latest Webometrics Ranking (January 2025 edition). This recognition also places IUS among the top 12% of universities worldwide, highlighting its dedication to quality education, research, and digital presence.

The January 2025 edition of Webometrics includes nearly 32,000 higher education institutions (HEIs) globally. The ranking system is based on webometric and bibliometric indicators, sourced from Majestic, Google Scholar, and Scimago-Scopus. These indicators assess an institution's digital footprint, research output, and scholarly impact.

Webometrics Ranking Model

Webometrics evaluates universities on three key indicators:

  • Visibility (50%) – Measures web content impact through external network links.
  • Excellence (40%) – Evaluates research influence based on top-cited papers.
  • Transparency (10%) – Assesses the presence of highly cited researchers.

By excelling in these areas, IUS continues to enhance its academic and digital presence globally.
